Wealthy Affiliate Review: A Surprisingly Good Product

Wealthy Affiliate Review: A Surprisingly Good Product

I’ve purchased and reviewed dozens of products over the past couple of years, and I am 100% committed to exposing every scummy product that I find. Wealthy Affiliate, however, really took me by surprise. With a name like “Wealthy Affiliate” I was expecting a pretty routine kind of “scum that grows between the bathroom tiles” negative review.   What I actually found was regularly added, up-to-date training, a very active and supportive community on a social platform that encourages interaction, and the best internet marketing product I’ve ever found due to very few drawbacks. Is it a scam? Definitely not. I’ll outline the strengths and weaknesses in my Wealthy Affiliate review below, and I’ll explain why it’s a great product for beginners and intermediate affiliate marketers alike.   The Best Thing About Wealthy Affiliate: It’s Free! Well, kind of. Something I’d never seen in other products was the ability to create a free account to get a “taste” and decide whether or not the product is right for you. No payment information required – just your name, email address, a desired username, and password.   Of course you don’t have access to everything as a free member, but you have access to a heck of a lot. There’s more training in the free membership at Wealthy Affiliate than I see in most paid programs that I ultimately end up tearing to shreds because they’re so low-quality.   The free membership at Wealthy Affiliate comes with a couple of restrictions. There’s limited access to training as I mentioned above, but you also have limited access to the community.   Wealthy Affiliate is setup on a platform very similar to social media sites like Facebook which creates a living, breathing learning environment where you can chat with other members, post questions on lessons/training that you’re unsure about, etc… With a free account you only have 7 days to explore these communication options. After that, you need to be a premium member to comment, chat, and post to other members’ profiles. The benefits of communication within the members’ area will become clearer throughout the rest of this review. If you’d rather just check it out for yourself, you can create a free Wealthy Affiliate account here.   Pro #1: A Clear, Step-by-Step Path is Set Out for You I think one of the biggest challenges most people face when new to affiliate/internet marketing is confusion about what to do first, then what comes after that, then after that, etc… You’re taking in a lot of information, so if it’s not given to you in the correct order it can be VERY overwhelming.  ...

Why Affiliate Marketing is Screwed

Why Affiliate Marketing is Screwed

There are a lot of ways to create a legitimate affiliate marketing business. The only problem is most people have no idea how to do that, so they create a bunch of fake, crappy content and consumers like you and me get screwed. This post explains a lot of the reasons why, and will give you a clear understanding of how the present affiliate marketing industry is so dirty, scummy, slimy, and – yes – completely screwed.   Overview: How Affiliate Marketing Works I won’t go into great detail because I don’t want to bore readers that already understand this, but this is how the affiliate relationship works: If you are an affiliate, you promote someone else’s products through various content (websites, videos, advertising, etc…). If someone finds your content, clicks your affiliate link, and then purchases that product you make a commission. You can also make commissions for each click you get, for each free trial you giveaway, for each person you put in contact with a business, etc… That’s how affiliate marketing works – you promote other people’s stuff, and you get paid based on your performance.   So What’s Wrong with That? In theory – nothing. It was a really, really good concept. What lazy people and “gurus” pushing their horrible “training” products have turned it into, though, is something completely different.   To avoid buying those crappy, scammy products from these “gurus”, read my How to Spot a Scam lesson.   The Right Way to Approach Affiliate Marketing There are A LOT of affiliates that approach affiliate marketing the right way, but you probably don’t see them or realize they’re there very often. The right way to approach affiliate marketing is to pick a topic you’re passionate about and/or have a great deal of knowledge in, then produce very high quality content that helps people solve their problems, answers their questions, etc… There’s a little more to it than that in the long run, but that covers about 90% of it.   The best way to approach new affiliate websites is to push making money as far out of your mind as possible. Try not to think about it at all. I know this seems somewhat counterintuitive because you’re researching affiliate marketing to build a profitable business, but when people come into this industry with dollar signs in their eyes, they get impatient, their content sucks, and they ultimately wash out of the industry entirely because they can’t find success.   Bottom line: Focus on helping others. Everything else will fall into place with consistent and high quality effort if you’re following the right path....

How to Spot a Scam

How to Spot a Scam

The internet marketing industry is ripe with scams, as you probably know if you’ve found your way to this article. That problem is made exponentially worse by immoral affiliates, which promote pretty much anything they think might sell regardless of how useless it is or whether it’s a total scam (more on that in my “Why the Affiliate Marketing Industry is Screwed” lesson).   I’ve reviewed dozens of products at this point, and I can pretty accurately tell you whether or not a product is a scam just by reviewing the claims the product publisher is making on their sales page. I still buy and personally review many products, but I’ve never been proven wrong when I suspected the product was a total scam going in.   There are several red flags to keep an eye out for, and in this post I’m going to outline every one that comes to mind. If you see even ONE of these characteristics in the product you’re considering buying, proceed very, very carefully and be very skeptical.   I hope you find this post to be helpful and I hope it protects you from wasting any of your hard-earned money. If you read it and find it helpful, leaving a comment at the bottom of this page and/or sharing on Facebook/Twitter/Pinterest/etc… would be greatly appreciated!   “Automatic” SEO/Traffic Generation Software They’re everywhere – “automated” SEO software, “automatic” website traffic generators, “copy & paste” methods and strategies, etc… I’m sorry to say – none of these products or software programs are legitimate. That’s because these processes are impossible to automate.   There was a point many years ago that website traffic generation was somewhat possible to automate but we are way, WAY beyond that now. Particularly after 2013 when Google released several massive updates that make their search engines extraordinarily good at detecting the patterns and trails that automated traffic generation software leaves.   Also, once you have a thorough understanding of SEO, PPC, social media, etc… you’ll see that many up-to-date strategies require a great deal of logic and thinking, which is something that modern day technology can’t mimic. Traffic generation is a complex topic, and the publishers selling “automated” traffic generation software programs are depending on exactly that.   The publishers of these products know that most people don’t understand traffic generation very well, so they know that you’ll have no idea if these programs are ineffective. Many of them will actually get your website penalized in today’s search climate, so be very, very careful.   Products that Promise It’s “Easy” or “Requires No Technical Skills” Every legitimate internet/affiliate marketer I’ve encountered has...
